Electric car charging stations provide green mobility for residents

More climate protection, less fossil fuels: Green mobility is considered key in the shift towards renewable sources of energy. The federal government supports the switch to electric vehicles with financial incentives and the development of a nationwide charging infrastructure. GLINT is also doing its part: Our apartment ensemble in Berlin-Mitte features 15 charging stations for electric cars. As a resident at GLINT, you can quickly and conveniently charge your vehicle in our underground garage with electricity from renewable energy sources.

Electric cars are powered by electricity. In theory, they could be connected to a power outlet in your home. This sounds a bit too easy to be true and, in fact, it is: Household outlets do not provide enough power to charge an electric vehicle and would result in charging times of 8 to 14 hours. Public charging stations are much faster: most use a 22 kW AC system, fully charging your vehicle in 2 to 4 hours. Fast-charging stations are even quicker, fully charging your vehicle in 30 to 45 minutes with 50 kW of power.

In essence, charging is similar to refueling a conventional car: You drive to the charging station, plug in your vehicle, pay and you’re on yourway. Charging requires a special charging cable, which is standard for most electric cars. It is also recommended that you purchase a universal adaptor to ensure optimal compatibility between the cable and station. The payment process is similar to a regular gas station, the payment options are up to the vendor.

Our 15 charging stations are part of a unique service package and are always at your disposal. Our electric vehicle charging stations are state-of-the-art and feature particularly fast charging times: Vehicles with high-powered batteries can be charged fully in less than an hour. While you are waiting, you are welcome to use our electric bicycles. We also provide universal adapters and spare cables for your convenience.

Security is also very important to us. Public charging stations are usually located on side streets or in parking lots and are accessible to the public. As a result, your car is not optimally protected while charging. The charging stations at GLINT are housed in our underground car park, which is monitored 24 hours a day by security cameras and our concierge service. The security of your car is guaranteed at all times, day and night.

Electric cars are perfect for a city like Berlin. They are free of exhaust fumes, low-noise and consume less energy in city traffic than conventional vehicles. However, their carbon footprint is only as good as the energy used to charge them.
